With the clock of today’s 3 PM NBA Trade Deadline rapidly ticking down, the biggest rumors continue to involve Boston Celtics’ 4 time all-star point guard Rajon Rondo. The team that is reportedly the most interested in acquiring Rondo’s services are the Houston Rockets. However, it appears that not everyone in Houston is swooning over the prospect of acquiring the star point guard. Perennial all-str/crybaby center Dwight Howard, who has thrown temper tantrums to slink his way out of his last two teams has slowly revealed himself to be the biggest Prima donna and it should come as no surprise that he wouldn’t want to play with a no nonsense, vicious competitor like Rondo. As NBA TV analyst Peter Vecsey Tweeted:
I agree with Vecsey. Rondo is cut from the same cloth as Kobe, and everyone saw how disastrous that pairing played out last year (It looked like the Mamba literally nearly made Howard cry Big Baby style on the bench several times.
By the way, count the 5-time champ Bryant as somebody who WOULD want to play with Rondo. On the subject of playing with the dynamic point guard Kobe said:
“You don’t want Rondo? Send him my way, I love everything about him. Everything. I love his attitude, I love his chippiness, his edge, his intellect, his know-it-allness. All of it. That’s what makes championship players.”
But Howard doesn’t want championship players (especially those mean and nasty ones). Dwight would much rather continue fooling around with James Harden’s beard than actually pursue a championship. So, in lieu of acquiring a playmaker that would give Howard an embarrassment of dunks and easy looks, he’d rather keep making silly Vines. He definitely seems content to enjoy a modicum of success but never truly reaching the status of being a true contender in a stacked Western Conference. If I were a Rockets fan, I’d be livid that my team’s dominant center is dismissing the idea of adding a player that could easily push them over the top and that it seems like he’ll get his way yet again. If they were trying to acquire Kevin Love, he’d probably find someway to be upset about that too (he already has to share the spotlight with Harden!).
Also, as a Celtics fan I have to say that negotiations would start with Parsons, Beverley and two firsts…
