Brandon Browner Officially Signs With Patriots, Forms Island of Boom

The escalating arms race between the Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots (and possibly the Ravens sneaking back in there…) got even hotter Friday night when former Legion of Boom member Brandon Browner officially inked a 3 year, $17 million deal with the Pats. Browner adds even more depth to a unit that already boasts Pro-Bowlers Darrelle Revis (God it feels awesome just typing that) and Devin McCourty as well as emerging youngsters Alfonzo Dennard and Logan Ryan as well as solid nickleback Kyle Arrington. Also, most importantly, he adds a dimension that has been missing from our defensive backfield since Rodney Harrison retired: he can absolutely lay the hammer! Here he is lighting up turncoat Wes Welker:

Go ahead and try that dirty little hip check nonsense you pulled in the AFC Championship on the ISLAND OF BOOM (I’ve heard several other nickname suggestions including “Boston DB Party” but that already takes place every weekend at The Greatest Bar HEYOOO)! This entire free agency period has been one of the most exciting in recent memory; the respective Revis and Browner odysseys alone kept myself and the vast majority of Pats fans compulsively refreshing Twitter. I honestly can’t comprehend what it was like to follow Free Agency without Twitter. Did team representatives send out ravens to alert the fans of prospective signings? “Hey alrite, we signed Deion Sanders! It’s right here in the Spring Edition.” God, I cannot wait for the season to start, but until then…

Also, amongst all of this excitement over new editions, I’d be remiss to not mention the impending departure of Big Vince. #75 is one of the classiest players in the history of the organization and frankly I’m seeing way too many snarky comments about his unwillingness to restructure his contract. It’s highly unfortunate that he has the two sides have to part ways, but I wish him luck wherever he lands. Unless it’s with the Broncos. Or the Jets. Or the Giants.
